  • Change of Scenery

Well, it's about the end of the summer now and time for new changes.  Although this site has worked well for us, Grandpa Tom's computer wont let him access Xanga sites.  Zach says that means Grandpa Tom needs to get with the times and get internet access and a computer at home so he's not limited by his work's wireless internet web washer, but that may not happen for a while! =)  So instead, I'm informing you all of our change of web address.  For new updates about our family, check out http://zachori.blogspot.com Yes, we did make sure he could access that one!

    See y'all over there...

  • Update

Boone is doing much better now.  He is responding well to the insulin and they are preparing to move him out of ICU to the hospital floor soon.  There they will monitor him and train his parents in the care of his diabetes.  The bacterial infection is no longer a concern, it was based on high white blood cell count, which may have been just his body's response to the diabetic emergency.

Thank you for your prayers and please remember them as this is just the begining of a life-long "adventure" with this illness.

We're looking forward to them hopefully heading home later this week.

  • Boone

A lot of you who read this know the Stratford family and the trials they've endured this last year with their son Boone.  (he is 7 weeks older than Brenden)  He was diagnosed and treated with Infant Botulism last winter.  It's been a long recovery that is still ongoing.  Today, he is back in the hospital again.  He has been sick this past week, leading to vomitting and dehydration the last couple days.  He went to the ER yesterday, and came back home, but today his symptoms turned to respiratory distress and somewhat unresponsive.  Back in the ER, his blood sugar level and white blood cell counts were off the charts high.  He was started on insulin and flown to Children's Hospital again, (where he was last winter).  For now, the only diagnosis is Diabetes and bacterial infection.  Sarah is with him and Reuben and the girls will head over tomorrow.  Will you join us in praying for Boone and his family?  As well as for the hospital staff in their care for him and all the decisions they have to make.  Thank you!

I'm not super comfortable with posting tons of their personal info on this public site, so if you have more questions or want a sooner update, please feel free to email me!

  • Swimming Lessons

Both boys were in swimming lessons for a week and had great fun.  This was Conrad's first year to jump off the diving board.  Josiah is just about fearless and runs off and does cannon balls.  He even convinced his teacher to stop catching him by the end.

    Here's Josiah:

Brenden pretty much never crawls anymore.  Once he figured out how to walk, he just went with it.  He walks barefoot, in shoes, on grass, sand, concrete, gravel, you name it.  He's one determined bugger.  His newest tricks for this week are saying, "uh oh" (which is so stinkin cute, we make him say it all the time!)  and throwing whatever he can find into the kitchen garbage can.  Neither of these will be fun anymore pretty soon, but at the moment I have to hide my smile as I tell him no when he throws his juice cup on top of old fridge leftovers.  Oh, I forgot another.  He used to try to take things out of the dishwasher anytime I had to open it to fill it or empty it.  Then he started trying to drink the pooled water off the open door, like a cat.  Now, anytime it's open he pushes the drawers back in and shuts the door!  Progress...

Here's a picture of the plume of smoke we see whenever the wind sends it our way from the closest fire.
